2 arrested in NPSC answer script scam

Two suspended staff of the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) suspected to be the main culprits involved in the answer script swap scam, were arrested by Kohima Police Tuesday morning. Based on the complaint lodged by NPSC secretary Dilliroe M.Sakhrie on Monday, Police registered a case and arrested the two- Ms Zavekholü Epao, Assistant Superintendent and Ms Phuholi Sema, UDA. The two were produced before the magistrate Tuesday afternoon and remanded to 48- hours police custody. The two were suspended Monday on per prima facie evidence that they were involved in the swapping of the answer scripts of eleven candidates of NCS,NPS and Allied Service examinations with those written outside the examination hall. The NPSC through an official notification Tuesday, nullified the examinations of all the eleven candidates in whose answer script discrepancies were detected . It has also debarred the candidates from appearing in any competitive exams for three years. Talking to the Nagaland Post, NPSC Secretary Dellirose M.Sakhrie confirmed that the two staff were suspended on Monday. She also said the commission had detected the discrepancies while verifying the evaluated answer scripts for tabulation of final marks obtained by the candidates who had sat for the interview sometime in mid-February. The NPSC carried out re-verification after detecting discrepancies and later concluded that the answer scripts of ten candidates for NCS/NPS and Allied Services Examination 2008 and one candidate for the Lecturers recruitment Examination 2008,were swapped. Prima facie, it also indicated that the swapping took placed at the time when the commission assigned a code on the answer script. The two staff assigned for the job under the supervision of the Controller of Examination were identified and subsequently suspended, she said Meanwhile, after police investigation started rolling, NPSC Controller of Examination Kavili Jakhalu, applied for anticipatory bail Tuesday.
