Peren District Congress Committee (DCC) reacting over the resignation of former Congress leader Neiba Ndang and subsequent press statement by Peren DYC president, Hiarütlang and Peren AYC president Hangau demanding CLP leader and NPCC president to step down for their alleged failure to lead the party, has stated that their (DYC, AYC president) resignation and “badmouthing” others have only reflected their own vested interests and lack of perseverance while in the party. A joint press statement issued by Peren DCC president, Heling Zeliang; PCC secretary in-charge Peren district, Wizabo and 7th Peren ACCC president, Karangau maintained that Neiba Ndang might have resigned for the reason that he was denied Congress ticket during the last assembly election, which it said was decided upon by the Congress central high command. “The choice of continuing to remain in the party or to leave the party is entirely up to them but blaming the party leaders to suit their selfish desire is uncalled for,” the statement asserted. The Congress leaders while stating everyone knew Neiba Ndang’s performance in his constituency during Assembly election and the amount of public support he had, claimed that he had failed to attend several party meetings and kept himself aloof from political activities. “When he failed on his own part and missed the party ticket, the NPCC President or CLP leader is not to be blamed for,” the joint statement asserted. Further, it maintained that NPCC president, K. V. Pusa and CLP leader Chingwang Konyak were strong and capable leaders who were trusted by AICC leaders and state party members. Meanwhile, in a separate joint press statement issued by Peren DCC vice president, Dikong and Peren DCC executive member, Isamteing said that the resignation of Neiba Ndang finally brought out his true selfish colours. Pointing out that he himself admitted the reason for his resignation was because of not accommodating him in any central committee or corporation, Peren DCC leaders queried “How can he claim to be dissatisfied when party workers like him worked against the party in the last General Election, thus being instrumental in the state INC’s poor performance?” The statement alleged that he had masterminded devious plans against the INC with some DCC, ACC, Mahila, DYC and AYC, especially in 7- Peren A/C. DCC leaders further claimed that he had taken huge amounts of money from the N PF candidate to satisfy his greed. The people 7-Peren A/C, the release said has lost much trust in the INC because of his perpetual selfish actions. The statement expressed confidence that 7-Peren Congress would continue to serve the people under NPCC and AICC leaderships for peace, progress and prosperity.
