Mob lynch militant, injures another

A mob lynched one of two youth claiming to be cadres of KCP and seriously injured the other even as a third youth escaped a life attempt bid in two unrelated incident in Manipur since Monday night. Official reports said the incident took place at around 7.30 pm when the two youth entered the house of one Mayengbam Kumar at Wabagai serving as Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) on the pretext of meeting their senior in connection with the demand they wanted from him and insisted him to accompany them. When Kumar refused their instances, the self claimed KCP cadres tried to forcibly take him away. The family members alarmed the neighbors who converged at the ZEO’s house and chased them following which, in an assault one of the youth succumbed to injuries at the spot before the police intervened and the other was seriously wounded, police and local reports stated. The deceased was identified as one Premchand alias Swami (23) son of Angou of Laphupat Tera village in Imphal west while the injured youth in custody and currently hospitalized at RIMS was identified as Maibam Nanao alias Inoucha (22) son of Guni hailing from the same locality with the deceased. In another unrelated incident, some gunmen suspected to be activists of the militant outfit PULF, shot and injured a youth residing at Heibungmakhong village under Mayang Imphal police station of Imphal west Tuesday morning at around 7.30 am. The youth identified as Md Ibungo (26) son of Ramzan of Kshetri Bengool sustained three bullets injuries at the thigh and chest and was rushed to RIMS Hospital, Imphal. Hospital sources said his condition is still serious. According to locals sources the motive behind the shooting is yet to be known.
