A four member delegate of the Twipra Student’s Federation (TSF) led by its president Upendra Debbarman reached the state capital Tuesday as part of its a good will mission to the entire North East states seeking support and vote for Sourabhee Debbarman one among the four finalists at the ongoing reality show ‘Indian Idol’.
“To make the North East proud,” we need the support of the people since Sourabhee is an indigenous citizen of the Northeast, hailing from Tripura state, said Debbarman while addressing a press conference with NSF officials at the NSF office. In this regard, he also requested the people of Nagaland to vote for her through SMS by texting ‘Sourabhee’ to 52525.
Saphikhu B. Kalai who is also accompanying the TSF president pointed out that the Northeast people have rich talents in diverse fields but never make it to the limelight in mainland India.
He therefore appealed the Nagas and people of northeast to promote the Northeast by supporting Sourabhee in the Indian Idol by voting for her.
Pointing out that there are northeast sportsmen in various prominent soccer clubs, he however said they cannot make it to the limelight due to certain factors, adding, even if a Northeastern band plays better in Delhi, still they will be judged second.
NSF President Imchatoba Imchen while reiterating its strong and cordial relationship with the TSF, expressed strong solidarity and support and at the same time appealed to all Naga music fans to vote for Sourabhee. “Let us try to encourage and support”, he said.
The TSF team have so far visited Mizoram and Manipur where it claimed have received a good response. After Nagaland, the TSF delegate would leave for Arunachal Pradesh followed by Assam and Meghalaya. It may be mentioned that Sourabhee Debbarma along with Kapil Thapa, Rajdeep Chaterjee and Torsha Sarkar were selected as four finalists in the Indian Idol on Saturday last. The next elimination round would take place on Saturday next.
