7 houses gutted in Dimapur

Seven houses were completely gutted when fire broke out at Zeliangrong colony and PWD colony here today. Four houses were gutted in an inferno at Zeliangrong colony at around 8 am today. However, there was no report of injury to anyone in the fire which started from the house of one of the residents of the area, police said. Five fire tenders belonging to Fire Brigade and Army were immediately pressed into service to control the blaze. Personnel from Fire Brigade, Army, Assam Rifles and also local residents took about two hours to douse the fire. Property worth about Rs 4 lakh was destroyed in the fire. In the second incident, three houses were completely gutted at PWD colony at around 6 pm. According to police, the fire started due to short circuit in one of the rooms of a gutted house. It took about an hour for six fire tenders to douse the flame. Property worth about Rs 19 lakh, including one auto rickshaw, was destroyed in the fire.
