Nine vehicles destroyed in Dimapur fire

In yet another fire incident in Dimapur, a fire broke out in Duncan Basti area where Nine vehicles (2 Gypsy, 1 Alto, 2 Maruti Car, 1 Zen, 1 Marshall Jeep, 1 Autorickshaw, 1 Jeep and a Rickshaw) were totally set ablaze inside Choudary Garage at about 9.15 p.m. Wednesday night. The fire broke out from a blacksmiths shop which then spread to the adjacent garage burning it down completely. Five fire tenders were pressed into action to douse the inferno which took about two hours, Police said. Meanwhile, witnesses account said they heard a loud blast near the main road and immediately saw the garage in colossal flames. Some residents of the locality were not happy by the ‘late-attitude’ of the fire tenders and said that they expected the fire department to be quick to react in such situations. Properties approximately worth few lakhs of rupees were totally gutted by the inferno. It maybe mentioned that the IRB patrolling party of Duncan area saw the inferno and immediately informed the station through the Radio-Transmitter set (R-T set). No loss of life or injury was reported at the time of filing this report.
