NSF president Imchatoba Imchen and assistant general secretary Thoshusie Katiry have expressed serious concern over the recent answer script swapping scam by eleven candidates of the NPSC examination 2008 and felt it was one of several factors causing decay of society. The two NSF functionaries in an open letter addressed to the state chief minister Neiphiu Rio described the NPSC scam as matter which the federation seriously viewed with. Stating that it was also dismayed by the handling of the matter, it urged upon the chief minister to ensure that there was no room for “any third-party influence to play in the investigation process.” The signatories said the federation was aware of the “ involvement of high political network among some of the culprits” but held the view that there was no reason to “accommodate any form of leniency in this matter”. Asserting that the culprits deserved exemplary “punitive action” so ensure no future recurrence, the federation further demanded that the chief minister make it clear to his ministerial colleagues that none would be allowed to influence the process of investigation into the scam. It also urged the chief minister to make public the report of the investigation. The signatories further said the federation expected the government to maintain transparency and accountability in the NPSC so that the deserving were not deprived by such malpractices.
