DYC, Dimapur: Dimapur District Youth Congress general secretary Alen Singson has tendered resignation from both active and primary membership of Congress along with Jangtinsei Singson of (Molvom Unit) president in support of former INC Candidate Miatho-u Krose.
Ex-Cong MLA: In continuing with the drama of political defection, former Congress MLA from 45 Tehok A/C Shaboh Konyak has tendered resignation from both primary and active membership of Congress party along with party workers and have joined NPF. In his resignation letter, Shaboh stated that he along with A/C party workers resigned to join NPF party and to join hand with MLA CL John Konyak and Minister Nyiewang Konyak under the leadership of chief minister Neiphiu Rio. Shaboh also stated that he was resigned from the party on the reason that Wangyuh Konyak had been admitted back to the party fold without his knowledge.
Tovihoto H. Ayemi: Following the resignation of Azheto Zhimomi of 3 Dimapur-III A/C from NLA and also acknowledging the versatile and able leadership of Nagaland chief minister, Neiphiu Rio, former Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) chairperson, Tovihoto H. Ayemi, has resigned from Congress party in support of his candidature and the NPF party in the ensuing by-election and parliamentary election.
VCC 54 A/C Tsg-SD-II: Village Congress Committee (VCC) under 54 A/C Tsuensang-Sadar II, comprising of 14 villages have unanimously decided to resign enbloc from the Congress party and strengthen the leadership of Nagaland chief minister and Dr. Shurhozelie, president, NPF, and also to support the candidature of Kejong Chang in the ensuing by-election. The session secretary of the VCC, I. Langpong Chang, in a press release stated that the decision was taken at a joint meeting of the representatives.
Former BJP election cell president: Former BJP Election Cell president and present BSP member Khohoto Sema has resigned from the primary and active membership to support the Congress’s candidate Asungba Sangtam for the forthcoming Lok Sabha election and also to strengthen the leadership of NPCC president KV Pusa, CLP leader Chingwang Konyak and AICC president Sonia Gandhi.
Neiko Akami: Co-convener, legal cell of NPCC, Neiko Akami, has resigned from his post and decided to extend unconditional support to Nagaland chief minister, Neiphiu Rio, who had been working with a clear vision to bring all round development and user in a new era of peace and progress in the state under his undisputed leadership.
DCC, ACC 17 Chizami A/C: District Congress Committee (DCC), Phek, and Area Congress Committee (ACC) of 17 Chizami A/C have appreciated Kevechutso Duolo, former independent candidate of the A/C and supporters for joining the Congress party on March 13. DCC and ACC presidents of 17 Chizami A/C, Mikha Kenye and Kuzuveyi Heise, in a joint press release stated that Duolo is a prominent public and youth leader in the community and his joining the Congress is an asset which would boost the Congress and also strengthen the hands of the party leadership. DCC, ACC 17 Chizami A/C has also said that Duolo’s expression and commitment to uphold and stand by the policy and ideology of the Congress party was a ‘milestone’ to the party and further believed that the development had widened the prospect of Congress party to retain its ‘deserted’ seat which was felt as a demonstration of the people’s rejection to Deo Nukhu for betraying the mandate of the people. Meanwhile, the DCC and ACC have regretted the action of a leader who was voted to power to represent the aspiration of its people through Congress policy and ideology has ‘betrayed and sold’ his position for personal benefit in disguise of public interest and development. It also said that the ensuing by-election would prove the supremacy of the people’s voice and remonstrate against sinister design of people who manipulate and exploit the aspiration of the mass.
Jalukiezangdi, Nkwareu Cong units: Congress Party units of Jalukiezangdi and Nkwareu villages under Peren district have been dissolved following the resignation of its leader, Neiba Ndang from the Congress. Jalukiezangdi village Congress unit president, Ngosayi Rhakho, and general secretary, Kuhunu Rhakho, in a press release stated that the unit had been dissolved on March 12. "Neiba Ndang had been the only leader during the times of need for our then party (Congress); however, leaving aside any feelings of party ‘ism’ we had our full faith in his leadership. Though he was not given the party ticket in the last election, reaffirming its full faith and loyalty to Ndang.
The Congress unit of Nkwareu village in a separate press release issued jointly by its president, David, and general secretary Mathambo and DCC member Amabo cited that the ‘step motherly’ treatment meted to the party by NPCC and AICC who had not known its plight at the 2008 general election where INC ticket was issued to a ‘rejected’ candidate without scrutinizing. The unit also said that after the resignation of their leader, Neiba Ndang, the party workers have no more confidence in the party since there was no capable leader to take his place. “We are not toys to be played, in spite of the small electorate, we had full faith in the Congress and well placed and lively during the Congress regime under the able leadership Neiba Ndang, who helped us in al fields of needs,” the release added.
3 Dimapur-III A/C: In the wake of forthcoming by-election of Nagaland Legislative Assembly, GBs, village council chairmen and public leaders of 19 villages under 3 Dimapur-III A/C held a consultative meeting on March 13 with former MLA of Dimapur-III Azheto Zhimomi, the NPF intending candidate for by-election at his residence. Favouring the NPF led DAN government, villagers and public leaders from the 19 villages articulated that the steps taken by Azheto was for the good of the people of Dimapur-III A/C and for which they unanimously resolved to support his candidature in the by-election and also support C.M Chang, the DAN consensus candidate in the parliamentary election. Altogether 129 representatives attended the meeting which held and concluded in an encouraging note.
Congress workers Kiphire unit: The NPF Kiphire unit has welcomed the Congress party workers who joined the NPF to strengthen the party under the leadership of parliamentary secretary for CAWD, T. Torechu. Terming that the newly joined members have taken the right decision in time, the NPF Kiphire president, C. Lichokyu Sangtam, in a press release stated that the joining of the former Congress workers into the NPF party fold would further strengthen the party in the district. Meanwhile, in a separate release, the NPF Kiphire unit has informed that the party has been reorganized under the direction from central office delegates led by Chukhuwutso, assistant treasurer, and Kiphire in-charge, as convener, T. Torechu, parliamentary secretary, CAWD, Yankiu, secretary, Tsanio, former candidate from 59 A/C and C. Lichokyu, president, were the nominating members for reorganizing the divisional office bearers and 59 and 60 A/C NPF office bearers for all parent body and all area unit office bearers.
NPF 51 NOKSEN A/C: NPF party 51 Noksen A/C has welcomed all the four congress MLA’s who have resigned from congress to join the NPF party fold under the leadership of chief minister, Neiphiu Rio and NPF president Dr. Shurhozelie. In a press release B. Beso Change president NPF party 51 Noksen A/C specially mentioned Kejong Chang ex-MLA from Tuensang Sadar II for taking bold step to bring progress and development particularly for his constituency.
New Jalukie Congress unit: New Jalukie Congress unit has resolved to dissolve its unit in support of the decision taken by former speaker of NLA Neiba Ndang. A press note jointly issued by Jalukie Congress unit general secretary, Puakim, Huranbo (vice president), ACC, Hankie, (finance secretary), AYC and Keyibe Kenn, the unit member have also extended support to Neiba’s leadership. Meanwhile, Kipeuzang village Congress unit also decided to dissolve its unit in support of Neiba Ndang. Kipeuzang village Congress unit in a separate press release jointly issued by its president Hiareucheu Zielui and general secretary, Ileusap stated that they have lost faith in the functioning of the Congress leadership as they never cared for the interest of majority at grass root level. Further, vice president DYC N, Haihing Vicky of Kamdi area along with the Congress youth have decided to resign en-bloc from primary and active membership to support Neiba Ndang.
