NSCN (I-M) said Sunday’s clash with the GPRN/NSCN at Sungkha village could have been averted had the latter positively responded to the appeals of the villagers and the public as a whole and cited instances when they were being provocated.
The NSCN (I-M) MIP in a statement said the latest provocation was the kidnapping of its “Raza Peyu” Nchubomo Ovung of Lotha region from Koro village under Wokha district on March 13 who was still under their custody.
The NSCN (I-M) said its activists were also fired upon by the GPRN/NSCN activists at Tirap district in Arunachal Pradesh on March 13. It claimed things were about to turn ugly had its higher authority not gave restraining order respecting the wishes and aspiration of the people.
The MIP also accused the rivals of creating tension by moving around in Wokha district and forcibly collecting tax for the last one week. The MIP said the house of “Raza Peyu” Yanbemo Patton of Lotha Region in Old Ralan was also rounded up and searched on March 5.
