More Congress workers attacked in Imphal

Two more block level Congress workers were injured when they were shot by suspected militants Tuesday at around noon at Sambei village under Heingang police station of Imphal east. Police report said the two block level Congress workers were identified as Khangembam Muhindro (75) and Laiphrakpam Ibungcha (53), both residents of Khundrakpam Mayai Leikai were shot by suspected KCP (MC) militants at the legs at around noon on Tuesday at Sambei village after they were abducted. Muhindro sustained injury at left leg while Ibungcha at his right leg. Both have been admitted at RIMS hospital, Imphal. They were abducted by unidentified gunmen Monday night at around 7.30 pm from their respective home, according to the families at RIMS hospital. Hospital sources said their condition stable and out of danger. The shooting occurred a day after the CM, O Ibobi Singh told some reporters Monday evening that he has directed state police and other security establishments to take up adequate measures to check intimidations to the Congress workers by militants.
