Changsao Thangjam Setshang (CTS) has refuted a news item that appeared in a local daily on February 28 in regard to launching of Eastern Naga Women’s Organization (ENWO) unit at Tuensang. Terming the launching of the unit as ‘baseless’ which was initiated without consensual decision among the four tribes representing Tuensang district, the Changsao Thangjam Setshang (CTS), in a press release stated it has abstained from participation in the programme in adherence to its earlier decision that was made known to the ENWO leadership in advance and said members from Chang community who attended and participated in the 'so-called launching programme' did so in their own volition and not as designated representatives of the CTS. The release also added that Changsao Thangjam Setshang (CTS) was the women’s apex body representing Chang women in the tribal apex body for which the forum said it had made its position clear through fax message on February 25, which was also an appeal to keep the matter at abeyance for which all reasons had been expressed through phone followed by the fax note. Further, the CTS have appealed ENWO leadership to uphold ‘values’ which would promote ‘just and acceptable’ actions by all its members.
