In one of the biggest rock fests in Bangalore, Divine Connection, a prominent Christian band from Nagaland, performed alongside 20 other leading and upcoming bands from different parts of the country. ‘Rock Ethos,’ held on the 14 and 15 of March 2009, is an annual rock music festival where top Indian Rock bands slam on a common platform to present their original compositions. The fest, in its second year, promotes young, upcoming bands and endorses original music and promises to emerge as the greatest rock fest in the whole of the nation.
Divine Connection, the first to represent the North-East states at ‘Rock Ethos,’ made a remarkable achievement not only by sharing the vision of the organisers in challenging the prevailing stronghold of drugs, alcohol and sex among the youth, but also by boldly proclaiming the gospel through music and calling out “Give Your Life to Jesus”. Their outstanding and distinctive performance from their debut album “El-Roi” not just thrilled and stole away the hearts of the hundreds of crowd at Palace Grounds that Sunday, but also created a magical impression over their own contemporaries. “El-Roi” is a blend of rock, jazz, nu-metal, funk and modern rock. The host, Naga Students’ Union Bangalore (NSUB), expressed its profound joy in response to the stupendous performance by the band on stage.
The band, into its fifth year, has been performing at places like Shillong, Guwahati, Delhi, Bangalore, and extensively in Nagaland and Manipur. One among the recent stages that they have performed on was at Nagas’ Nite organised by the NSUB in Bangalore. The band’s members include Obed Kath (Vocals), Yanpothung Lotha (Drum), Mhathung Odyuo(Bass), and Lichen Kichu(Guitar).
