Taking serious note of the recent reports regarding threats issued by some functionaries of NSCN factions to two bureaucrats including the head of the SIT probing the bogus appointment of teachers , the ‘Ongpankong Mundang’ (OM), Mokokchung has expressed astonishment over the activities of some “national workers.” The OM said the ‘ national workers’ instead of taking larger ‘ national agenda’ forward, were instead busy interfering in too many social issues and creating undesired situation, misunderstanding and corruption among different Naga communities and tribes. OM general secretary Tsupong Longchar in a statement said the unfortunate trend was not only detrimental to the National movement but effecting every aspect towards healthy development of Naga society. Further, OM said different Naga “national workers” at this crucial juncture must be honest and transparent as only through concerted efforts of every Naga can a united stand be made against the ‘common adversary and bring the Naga political solution as desired by the Naga people”. Taking serious note of the threat on the officers for probing the bogus appointment of teachers in the school education department by functionaries of the NSCN(K) and NSCN(I-M), the OM appealed to the factions to be more considerate to fellow Nagas and demanded that the death threats be immediately revoked in good faith to foster understanding and also to let justice prevail in Naga society. The OM also cautioned that it will not remain a mere spectator in the event of any ‘untoward incident’ befalling on Mrs Bano Z.Jamir, additional chief secretary and commissioner & secretary school education or the other two officers as a consequence of the threats.
