A day after both the NPF and the BJP rubbished AICC’s charges against DAN government on misappropriation of central funds etc, the NPCC on Wednesday firmly backed the charges corroborating it with more hard hitting statements. The truth cannot be hidden from the people of Nagaland, NPCC Member Media Cell, Dr. K. Hoshi said in a press note while defending the AICC General Secretary, in-charge of Nagaland, V. Narayanasamy, On the claims of the NPF President, Dr. Shurhozelie and state Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio regarding developmental activities, the NPCC pointed out that the development activities were not commensurate with the amount of funds released by the Centre. The NPCC also supported the allegations of the AICC General Secretary on colossal over-draft saying that the allegations were well-substantiated by the fact that the DAN Government was not only failing to pay arrears recommended by 6th Pay Commission but was also being unable to release the normal pay for the month of February 2009 in many departments till date. In the light of the present trend of “borrowing spree” from different lending institutions by the state government, the NPCC observed that the DAN government had nothing to offer to the Naga people except a legacy of deficit to the next government despite the fact that it started running the government in 2003 on zero deficit. Further, the NPCC reiterated that a regional political party Lok Sabha MP was an unattached member in the house. “A Congress MP as the representative of Nagaland State would very much become one of the members in the family of Congress MPs and the voice of all Congress MPs also become the voice of the Naga people,” NPCC asserted. The state Congress party also demanded to know as to what the NPF President meant by admitting “its human error when the mismanagement of fund runs into terms of crores of rupees.” NPCC slammed the NPF President for casually stating that the error was an “eye opener” adding that it further exposed the DAN Government’s handling the Naga people in “most casual manner.” Stating that the CAG report was for the period from 2003-08, the period which the DAN Government has been in power, the NPCC also described the statement of Minister for Health and Family Welfare blaming the previous Congress regime for the anomalies as a “blind political statement that has no basis.” The state Congress pointed out that as per established executive protocol, misuse of funds to the tune of crores of rupees could never have occurred without the political decision and sanction of the minister concerned, who is also the executive head of the department he heads. The NPCC also expressed regret that the DAN Government was habitually passing on the blame to the officers for its own failures. The failure of its officers is the failure of the government in power, the Congress asserted while pointing to the blame put on the officers by the Chief Minister for failure to prepare DPR in the case of four-lane NH 39 project. “But for too much of political interference in the working of the departments; our officers are quite talented and efficient” the NPCC remarked.
