Naga Hoho president Keviletuo Kiewhuo and general secretary P.Chuba Ozukum have condemned the threats by a few perpetrators to cow down “untainted NPSC officials” in the aftermath of the recent NPSC answer script swap scam and also the threats issued on two senior bureaucrats and the head of the SIT probing the bogus appointment of teachers in the school education department. On the recent NPSC answer script swap scam, the Hoho said the recent expose only proved that such practices were prevalent since the inception of the commission and urged upon the state government to act without haste in probing all assets possessed by a few corrupt officials. Taking a serious view of the threats issued by some Naga national workers to two senior bureaucrats and the head of the Vigilance SIT probing the bogus appointment of teachers in the school education department, the Hoho urged the different factions to desist from such acts in the larger interests of the Naga people. Further, it said various Naga leaders including tribal hoho leaders had also been threatened by different groups of Naga national workers which has become a daily phenomenon. The signatories said such acts created hatred among Naga families and reaffirmed the hoho’s resolve to rise against such intimidations in the larger interests of the people. The Hoho also cautioned that such threats would be collectively responded by every tribal hoho in the event of any “unwarranted provocation meted out to any Naga leader that are tireslessly working for the Naga people as a whole.” Meanwhile, the Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) and the Ao Students’ Conference (AKM), in separate statements, have strongly denounced the recent NPSC answer script swapping scam as well as the purported threats meted out to the members of the Commission and the SIT which is probing the bogus appointment of teachers. Both the student bodies urged the authority responsible to award befitting punishment to the culprits so that similar cases do not arise in the future. ENSF vice president, Shahoto and joint secretary, Angam questioned the investigating agency for its delay in the investigating process even when all evidence involving the scam was delivered to it by the NPSC. Condemning the alleged threat served to some members of the NPSC, the ENSF affirmed it will not tolerate any anti-social elements where justice and truth was concerned. It urged the authority concerned to speed-up the investigating process and also appealed all the people to extend their support to the investigating agency. The ENSF also affirmed support to the proposed NSF protest rally on March 20 and directed all its members to attend the rally. Meanwhile, the AKM termed the NPSC scam as “intolerable” while questioning the integrity of those candidates who dreamt of becoming a respectable person by ignoring the capability of thousands of the educated Naga youth. Stating that it was “now or never” to cleanse the dirt that encircled the NPSC, the student body gave a clarion call to all the educated youth to support the NSF spearheading the fight for justice and future of the Nagas. The AKM through its president, S. Bendang Aier and general, Tongpang Ozukum also vehemently condemned the purported threats issued by personnel of some underground outfits to two senior bureaucrats and the head of the SIT probing the bogus appointment of teachers. It cautioned the underground outfits not to be stumbling blocks in the fight for ‘corrupt free Nagaland’. The AKM urged the investigating team to expedite the enquiry without any fear or favour in the interest of the Nagas.
