GDVFA beat DDVFA 2-1

Golaghat District Veteran football Association (GDVFA) defeated the Dimapur District Veteran Football Association (DDVFA) by 2-1 in a hard fought game played between the two sides in a friendly match played on Saturday at DDSC stadium. The first goal of the match came in the second half from Gautam Chetri (15) in 42 minutes for Golaghat team while Jay Chandra Mili (8) added the second goal in 45 minutes. The lone goal for Dimapur veterans came from S.Bendang (8) in 57 minutes. Earlier at the inaugural session, the chief guest Maongwati Aier, Deputy Commissioner Dimapur lauded the occasion by stating that its not mere football but a meeting between two great neighbors who are closely associated in terms of business, social activities and in culture. While saluting the steps taken by the veterans of both the district to enrich each other, the chief guest recalled the history between Assam and Nagaland. He further urged them to be all rounder as many of the veterans and be useful in the society. The chief guest also recalled one of the football legends; the state has produced in football, Dr. T. Ao, who represented the country in the Olympics. Earlier the welcome speech was delivered by Jacob Yanthan, SDO (Agri). The Golaghat veterans were presented with special mementos by their counterparts from Dimapur. The Chief Guest also donated Rs.10,000 for the association.
