Record win for Dimapur, Kohima

Dimapur recorded their fourth successive victory after defeating Tuensang by 91 runs, while Kohima amassed the highest total 220 runs in the tournament against Longleng in the ongoing 23rd NCA inter-district cricket tournament, 2009, here Tuesday. Wokha and Mokokchung also won their respective matches. The tournament is being hosted by Kohima District Cricket Association (KDCA). At local ground, Kohima, opted to bat first after winning the toss Dimapur up a huge total of 181 for 8 in the allotted over. In reply Tuensang ended at 92 for 8. Deepak of Dimapur, who scored 69 not out was named man of match. Earlier, in the first match at Kohima local ground, Wokha defeated Kiphire by eight wickets. Put into to bat, Kiphire could muster only 89 runs for the loss of 9 wicket in the allotted over. Wokha reached the target for the loss of 2 wickets. Ponathung of Wokha took 5 wickets including a hat-trick (2nd of the tournament) was declared the man of match. In the first match at Kohima Village ground, Kohima thrashed Longleng by 151 runs. Half centuries from Amhalie (67) and Chuilo (55) helped Kohima scored the highest total of 220 runs in the tournament for the loss of five wickets. Chasing the target, Longleng were bundled out for paltry 69 runs. Tapitu of Kohima who scored 36 runs and claimed four wickets was named man of the match. Mokokchung recorded their second successive victory after defeating Mon by 73 runs. Batting first Mokokchung set up a target of 146 for Mon. In reply, Mon were bundled out for partly 78 runs. Imnayanger (Mokokchung) was adjudged the man of the match for his 36 runs and two wickets haul. Meanwhile, the organizer informed that two Tuensang players Kono and Yankiuba have been suspended for the rest of tourney on disciplinary grounds, while charges has been framed against one Dimapur player by the Umpire panel and the decision of the technical organizing committee is awaited. It was observed that the player(s) should take note of the tournament rule and regulations and strictly adhere and abide by it while taking part in the tournament.
