GMS Nito annual sports week Dimapur, Mar 24 (NPN): Annual sports week of Nito Government Middle School, Nikhekhu, under Nihokhu EAC headquarter kick stated Tuesday with ADC Niuland, Anenla T. Sato gracing the inaugural function as chief guest. According to a press communiqué by member VEC, GMS Nito, Isawoto Jimo the chief guest in her speech spoke on the mental, physical and spiritual development of a student through proper education. “She said that studying books alone is not going to help the students to be successful in life but a student should be physically and spiritually fit as well. She encouraged the students to be sincere and dedicated in their education”, the ADC said. The release also said that the chief guest while stressing on the participation of community and parents for the development of students has urged the parents to guide the student in the right direction. She also urged the VEC’s to continue their active participation for the welfare and development of the school. She later on donated sport trophies to the school, the release said. Earlier, welcome address was delivered by chairman VEC, GMS Nito, Ghosuho Jimo while the vote of thanks was proposed by head teacher, L. Hoshito. The invocation was said by pastor, Nihokhu Baptist Church, Rev. Kikheho and the programme was chaired by Anoli. Citizen cup 2009 Dimapur, Mar 24 (NPN): The final match of the 1st Citizen Cup 2009, organized by Peraciezie Youth Organization on the theme “strive towards equality and harmony” will be played between Tribal and ICC teams at Government Higher Secondary School ground, Kohima. According to organization the match would begin from 11 am on Wednesday followed by closing ceremony with V. Mor secretary high school panchayat as chief guest. St. Anthony School sports week Dimapur, Mar 24 (NPN): Annual sports week of St. Anthony School, Tenyiphe kick started Tuesday with principal of police training centre, Yanrenthung Shitiri as chief guest. According to headmaster of the school, Fr. John M, the chief guest in his speech highlighted the importance of games and sports in student’s life. He also urged the students to participate in the sporting events with true spirit of sportsmanship. Earlier, the programme began with an invocation by principal, Rev. Fr. Sabu while the welcome address was delivered by Rev. Fr. John. Advent-spring cricket tourney postponed Dimapur, Mar 24 (NPN): Advent-Spring cricket tourney scheduled from March 25 has been postponed, the organizer Fusion CC Dimapur informed. The tournament will now be held in from April 11 onwards and the format of the tourney will be same as released earlier, the organizer said. Registration will be opened till April 9, and interested teams/clubs are informed to obtain the forms at sports corner, Duncan basti, circular road and Kings Sports, church road. Four men soccer tourney from April 2 Dimapur, Mar 24 (NPN): As part of its ministry, Men’s Fellowship of Rongmei Baptist Church, Sachu colony, Dimapur would organize a 4 men soccer tournament starting from April 6 at Rio colony ground. According to fellowship president, G. Chungailung the champions and runners-up will receive Rs. 5000 and Rs. 3000 respectively besides a cash award of Rs. 500 to the highest scorer. Registration form would be available at Kiran Sports and King Sports, church road and the entry fee is Rs. 1000. The last date of form submission is April 2, the release said.
