Disabilities Act introduced

With the introduction of the Central Act known as Persons with Disabilities (Equal opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full participation) Act by the state government, the disabled persons will now be able to enjoy 3% of vacancies of posts in all the departments under the State Government and its Public Sector Undertakings. The Act covers persons with the following disabilities; blindness with low vision, hearing impairment and locomotor disability or cerebral palsy. According to an official bulletin, all the departments of the state government and its Public Sector Undertakings would start executing the notification by following the reservation as mentioned and send a report to the nodal agency, i.e. Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms. All relevant information of eligible disabled persons would be collected by the department of Employment and maintain a roster of candidates under this category for information of the NPSC and all other recruitment agencies. The official notification also said that appointments were subject to interview or examination and Medical Board as prescribed in the schedule.
