Overseas Assn. formed

The Overseas Nagas Association (ONA) was formed during the opening session of the three-day Naga Consultative meet with Dr Visier Sanyu (Australia) as president, Dr Tssikhen Kithan (UK) and Rev David Jamir (USA) as vice presidents, Prof. Paul Pimomo (USA) as secretary general, Venusa Tinyi (Singapore) and Vesekhoyi Tetseo (Japan) as joint secretaries and Ren Merry (USA) as secretary for arts. Dr Orenthung Humtsoe (USA) is the education and research secretary, Mrs Lily Das (UK) treasurer, Rev Louliehu Yimsung (Australia) ambassador at-large (PR for networking), Sethrichem Sangtam (USA) youth coordinator while the country representatives Mutsezo Tetseo (Japan), Temsu Yanger Longkumer (UK), Temsu Longchari (Australia), Easterine Iralu (Norway), Kekhriesilie Yimsung (Singapore) and Naga Foundation USA will nominate its representative later. The honorary representatives from Nagaland will also be appointed later. The ONA is purely apolitical organisation which is not affiliated to any political party/organization but a platform for the Nagas living abroad to share their concern for our people. Altogether, about 15 Nagas living abroad in different countries stretching from Japan to USA and UK to Australia are attending the historic first Naga Consultative Meet organized by the PAC and hosted by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio. Talking to news persons, Dr Visier Sanyii, said there were many countries who want to help Nagaland in terms of development and expressed hope that the members of the organization would be able to garner support of the respective countries they are living in for the Naga cause.
