SETAM sports meet concluded

The first Sports Meet of School of Engineering & Technology and School of Management (SETAM) was held from March 4 and March 5 at the Nagaland University Residential Campus P.W.D Colony Dimapur with Vice Chancellor of Nagaland University, Prof. K. Kannan, who is also the Director of the School, as the Chief Guest at both the Opening and Closing Ceremony. The Vice Chancellor said that students were very fortunate to have such an event within a short span of time since its inception in October 2007. He further urged the students to put in the same effort in their studies, as they’ve shown in sports. Dy. Director of Sports & Head, Dr. Baljit Singh Sekhon and Dy. Director of Sports, P. Zetsuvi coordinated the sports event along with the support of the Organizing Committee comprising of the faculties and students of the School.. Flag hoisting and lowering was done by NCC cadets of SETAM, in the presence of the Chief Guest, and on the closing function the Flag was handed over to the Sports Dept. of the University. More than 50 matches were conducted at different venues like academic complex, S.A.I state stadium and at the Residential campus with around 140 students participating in different events. Gold, Silver and Bronze medals along with certificates and trophies for the overall champion were presented to the winners by the Vice Chancellor of the University There were four teams – Alpha, Beta, Gamma and Omega that took part in the competition wherein Alpha was declared the overall Champion and Gamma as the 1st runners up. The best female athlete was won by Arenkala Longkumer, runners up by Jessica Longchar, while the best male athlete was won by Ashraful Islam and runners up by Hamidur Rehman. A friendly exhibition football match between the SETAM staffs (teaching and non-teaching) and the students was the highlight of the concluding day. The sports meet was a grand success with active and enthusiastic participation from all the students and staffs as well.
