Former Arunachal Pradesh CM Gegong Apang on Friday demanded a CBI inquiry to unravel the truth behind kidnapping of his son Getem Apang and his music teacher Narendra Rai last year. The veteran politician’s demand came in the backdrop of a statement by CM Dorjee Khandu in the Assembly on Wednesday, alleging Apang’s involvement in the entire drama to tarnish the image of the present state government. “How one could think of getting one's own son kidnapped to discredit someone,” Apang said in a statement here. Describing the allegation as being “irresponsible”, Apang reiterated his demand for CBI probe. Apang’s son was kidnapped on June 18 last year from the heart of the capital. The case was solved the next day by the police with the arrest of three people, two of whom are related to the former CM. Apang, in his statement also denied that he had instigated the Confederation of Service Association of Arunachal Pradesh (CoSAAP) members on the issue of implementation of the Sixth Central Pay Commission's recommendations. “I have taken up many projects and schemes for state's development during my long period of chief ministership which no one can deny. But it needs time to see the light of the day,” the statement added.
