He's married with children to Gwyneth Paltrow but Coldplay singer Chris Martin is having regrets over his old flame Natalie Imbruglia.
But Martin's regrets are more professional than personal after writing the comeback single so desperately needed by long-time hitless Imbruglia.
"A bit annoyingly we've given her the best Coldplay song of all time," Martin said, "but because we're off-cycle we can't do it ourselves. "Half of me wishes we still had it - but she sounds brilliant on it.
"I think she has a very unique talent and an incredibly unique voice."
Imbruglia pushed the release of her new album back to May to include the song, which an on-second-thoughts Martin is praising as his best work.
The pair hooked up in 2001 when she was on a break from her now ex-husband Daniel Johns and a year before the singer met Paltrow. Imbruglia was in the audience for Coldplay's Melbourne show on Wednesday night - as, ironically, was rekindled couple Shane Warne and Simone Callahan.
In Australia to promote her film Closed for Winter, Imbruglia said her album Come to Life would be released on her label Malabar Records and would include two Martin-penned tunes.
"If Chris Martin calls with two songs, you don't think, you say, 'Yes'. He's a great songwriter." The pair recorded the songs in a London studio in January, with Paltrow and children Apple and Moses present.
