Deptts. asked to amend service rules

State government has reminded all the departments to “suitably” amend their respective Service Rules so as to incorporate the prescribed minimum and maximum age for entry into Government service. According to an official bulletin, state Chief Secretary Lalhuma pointed out that many departments were yet to adhere to the government’s order of fixing lower and upper age limit for entry into service order. It may be recalled that in supercession of all government notifications, Nagaland government has notified the lower and upper age limit to enter government service for different categories as follows: Grade – IV: Minimum 18 yrs and Maximum 30 yrs; Grade – III: Minimum 21 yrs and Maximum 30 yrs; Grade – II: Minimum 21 yrs and Maximum 30 yrs and Grade – I: Minimum 21 yrs and maximum 30 yrs. The upper age limit for SC/ST candidates have been relaxed by five years. Age relaxation had also been allowed for serving government employees with the equal number of years they are in service subject to a maximum of five years. The upper age limit for physically handicapped persons had been relaxed by another 10 years.
