Automaker Mahindra & Mahindra on Friday launched new models of Scorpio and said it has reduced prices of the premium sports utility vehicle by Rs 70,000 to Rs 25,000. M&M also said it may slash prices of Bolero, but would hike prices of its multi-purpose vehicle Xylo. The company pumped in Rs 50 crore for the new Scorpio. M&M said the new model, with refreshed looks, was launched in view that its latest offering Xylo doesn’t cannibalise Scorpio, which is its ace product. The launch also fortifies its presence across all the corners of the UV market with other products in its portfolio like Bolero, a value-for-money, entry level utility vehicle (UV), and Xylo, a multi-purpose vehicle. M&M will launch the new Scorpio in the United States by the year end. However, it has shelved plans of launching Scorpio, Bolero, Xylo and pick-up trucks in China. The earlier models of Scorpio have been phased out. Now, the price of new Scorpio VLX will be lower by Rs 70, 000 at Rs 9.2 lakh and the low-end LX model will cost Rs 25,000 less at Rs 7.2 lakh.
