Guidebook on SHG in Phom dialect released

A guide book on Self Help Group (SHG) translated in Phom dialect was Friday released at Lempang Hall, Longleng Town during a one- day training for SHG conducted by department of land resources development under states government’s ‘Year of Capacity Building’ programme. The guide book was release by Shayung Phom, SDO (Civil) Longleng. Speaking as chief guest, Shayung expressed gratitude to the department for organising the training session and also urged the SHG to utilize both mental and physical capacity to excel. Shayung Phom said most of the SHGs had been working year round to earn extra income but when festive season arrived; their entire incomes were invested on celebration thereby rendering them with no profit or success in their undertakings. In his key note address, Menuosietuo Tseikha, DPO, LRD Longleng expressed dissatisfaction on the performance of some SHG in the District, stating that thought Bangladesh was one of the poorest countries it excelled in bringing up SHG and thereby living standard of the people were improved to a great extend. Menuosietuo encouraged district SHGs to possess far sightedness in availing the opportunities as women folks of the district were more privileged and capable when compared to Bangladeshis. Further he expressed hope that with translating of guide book in their own dialect, women folk would make use in all possible way to guide them in bringing a change in their living standard and in their own community. Technical session was president over by resources person Miyatoshi, WTD Member, Roko, WTD Member and Imtisangla, coordinator, PBCA. Altogether 117 women folks from 16 villages attended the training. Earlier, Imlikaba Phom WTD member chaired the programme and invocation prayer was proposed by Imtisangla, Coordinator, PBCA, WTD member Kosano delivered vote of thanks.
