DCC Peren office bearers including its vice president (admn), Namhereing; general secretary (admn), N K Dikwa and general secretaries, Akuna and Haigameu Kauring and treasurer Samtalakie have tendered their resignation from both primary and active membership of the Congress party to support former minister Neiba Ndang.
A press statement appended by resigned members asserted that even after “wholeheartedly” working for the Congress party for the past 20 years they were disillusioned by indifferent attitude of the state party leaders and AICC leaders towards the senior party leaders at grassroots level.
The statement alleged that “there is total insincerity, incompatibility, irresponsibility and selfishness” among the leadership of Congress party both at state and central level.
Further, lauding Neiba Ndang’s decision to resign from the Congress party, the resigned members asserted that he has done right thing for the welfare of the public.
Meanwhile in a separate release, 12 village units of Congress party from the hill sectors 7 Peren A/C has supported the resignation tendered by Neiba Ndang. At a joint meeting held on March 5, the Peren town Congress party deliberated on the disillusionment of the party functionaries on the working system of the Congress which it termed as ‘selfish, corrupted and irresponsible towards the grass root level workers’. A press release issued by general secretary Tumrai Ndang stated that Peren town Congress and the AICC leaders had to resign en bloc and support the former MLA.
Peren district mahila Congress members also resigned from the primary and active membership of the Congress party. President, district mahila Congress, Peren Lungcile Ipuing in a release stated the decision came after the resignation of Neiba Ndang from the Congress party as the were no capable or dedicated leaders to work for the general public.
