GPRN/NSCN has refuted the NSCN (I-M)’s allegation that its activists had fired upon the rivals on March 5 at Khukiye-Lukhai village under Sumi region. Describing the issue as being “far from truth.”, the publicity cell of the GPRN/NSCN said its activists had gone to Khukiye-Lukhai village on being informed that the rival NSCN (I-M) cadre were reportedly forcibly collecting tax from villages around Satakha town at gunpoint. The release said the ‘GPRN/NSCN’ army had gone to Khukiye-Lukhai village to prevent further harassment to the public. It said that only one shot was fired “ to let the errant IM boys know Naga Army’s presence in the area” The gun fire was the sound of cracking bamboo clusters due to spreading jhum fire, it said. The ‘GPRN/NSCN’ said it would not resort to “murder-first, justify-later policy,” and maintained that the Sumi region had been relatively calm and peaceful ever since the people of the region pledged their support towards all Naga Unity, Peace and Reconciliation.
