Police Baptist Church (PBC) women entered into final after defeating Lotha Baptist Church Dimapur 3-1, through a penalty shoot out after both teams were locked goalless in the regulated time in the ongoing Football for Bible 2009, played at DDSC Stadium here Monday. The tournament is being organized by Bible Society of India, Auxiliary Resource Mobilization Committee (RMC). In the penalty shoot-out the goals for PBC were netted by Chibeni, Mono and Renbeni while the lone goal for LBCD was scored by Pipono. PBC will now take on Ekranipathar NBC in the women’s final on March 12. In the second match of the day, inspired by Anato’s two goals and one goal each by Atomu, Atoka and Hosheto, tournament favorite Kughovi Village Baptist Church (KVBC) entered into semifinals after thrashing Dimapur Area Lotha Baptist Church (DALBC) 5-0. It may be mentioned that KVBC had not conceded a single goal and had scored a total of 8 goals including today’s match. Hosheto opened the scoring for KVBC in the 10th minute after his shot was misjudged by the advancing rival custodian Longrishan only to allow the ball to roll gently into the empty net. Led by veteran player, Renthungo DALBC proved no match for KVBC and their attempt for equalizer was turned down with a strong defence line up from their opponents. The score line remained 1-0 in favour of KVBC in the first half. A minute into the second half Anato who replaced Hosheto wasted an opportunity after his shot inside DALBC box was well collected by the rival custodian. Atomu also had the chanced to double the score line but his header was cleared off the line by DALBC defender Wobemo. However, Atomu in the 42nd minute doubled the lead through an assist by Anato. Anato then in the 46th minute with his solo run effort beating three defenders added the team’s third goal. Right after two minutes, he scored his second and the fourth goal after his powerful volley went past the rival custodian. Man of the match, Anato had the chance of scoring a hat-trick but could not convert a golden opportunity when his powerful shot inside DALBC box just sailed out side. The fifth goal was scored by substitute Atoka who replaced Atomu in the 45th minute. On Tuesday at 1.30 pm, an exhibition match between BSI officials and Referee XI will be played. Meanwhile, the organizer has thanked match patrons for their contribution: DMC member Vikheho Zhimomi- Rs.10,000; president DDADU, Akaho Kiba-Rs 10,000 and class-I contractor, Nibu Nagi- Rs.10,000.
