Wka PO gets internet facilities DIMAPUR: To facilitate the public and customers the postal service has provided Wokha Post Office (PO) with new service based on latest technology. According to official bulletin, new facilities like instant money order, electronic money order and internet browsing with minimum charge were introduced for the first time which was dedicated by Rev. Achumo Kithan, Associate Pastor, Wokha Town Baptist Church on March 9. Director, postal services, Kevichusa, while giving the welcome address appealed to the public to avail the opportunity provided by the department. Short speech was delivered by Treasury Officer, Wokha, N. Odyuo while vote of thanks was pronounced by Deputy Superintendent, Upen Basumatry. NPF women wing DIMAPUR: Kohima NPF women wing has convened emergency meeting March 13, 1 a.m. at NPF central office. All executive members have been directed to attend the meeting. TBWAD to mourn DIMAPUR: Tibetan and Bhutia Welfare Association Dimapur (TBWAD) March 10 would mourn the 50th anniversary of uprising against Chinese ‘rule’ in Tibet. A press statement issued by TBWAD has said that to commemorate the day Tibetan community has decided to close their shops. Further, it has expressed regret for the inconvenience that would cause the public by shop closure. SUPCC meet DIMAPUR: Students’ Union Public College of Commerce (SUPCC) has convened a general meeting on March 17, 10 a.m. at college premises to discuss various problems relating the students and plan for session 2009. All students, tribal unit presidents and executive members have been requested to attend the meeting. ASUK meet DIMAPUR: Ao Students’ Union Kohima (ASUK) has informed that the 1st presidential meeting of ASUK which was postponed on March 7 would be held on March 11, 9 a.m. at the residence of its treasurer. All federating unit presidents have been requested to attend the meet. ANCSU assembly Kohima: The 3rd union assembly of the All Nagaland College Students’ Union will be held on March 18 at 11 am at NSF conference hall. The union has informed all the office bearers, tribunals, unit presidents/general secretaries to attend the assembly without fail. NCRC (S) meet DIMAPUR: NCRC Sumi council has convened its mid term meeting March 14 and 15 at Pughoboto prayer centre to deliberate on various issues and agendas. All council and executive members, women, youth and mission departments have been requested to attend the same and reach the prayer centre by March 14. DVC meet DIMAPUR: Dikoi Village Council (DVC) has convened a general meeting March 11, 11 a.m. at TL Angami park, New Chumukedima. The council in a press release has informed GB of the village to submit report especially for repeated destruction of houses within the Dikoi village. KPU meeting Kohima: Kandi Public Union Tseminyu Kohima will have its annual meeting on March 11, 10 a.m. at Ehunnu village panchayat hall. NPCC Holi greetings DIMAPUR): NPCC president KV Pusa has extended greetings to the people of Nagaland on the occasion of Holi festival. “Holi is an important occasion that signifies the victory over evil. The heralding of the spring season marks the falling of old leaves and gradual sprouting of new leaves again,” NPCC chief said in a release. ABSQES press meet DIMAPUR: Akhil Bhartiya Sarvdharm Qaumi Ekta Samiti (ABSQES) has convened a press meet March 10, 3 p.m. at hotel Saramati. BSNL informs customers DIMAPUR: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has requested all its customers to pay their mobile / WLL/ land line bills on March 14 as cash counters at O/o GMTD in Dimapur and telephone exchange in Kohima would be working on March 14 from 9:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Further, it has informed that effort was on to activate the GSM BTS tower during April 2009 as the optical fibre cable joining works were in progress to serve the citizens in and around Samatore. NVFAA meet DIMAPUR: Nagaland Veterinary Field Assistants’ Association (NVFAA) has convened a general body meeting on March 13, 10 a.m at the residence of its general secretary, Burma camp veterinary colony Dimapur. All members have been requested to attend the meeting. Chumukedima EAC informs DIMAPUR: EAC Chumukedima has informed all persons with allotted stalls at purana bazaar market complex, east Dimapur to complete the official formalities and occupy their respective stalls before March 25 failing which the allotment order of the defaulter would be cancelled. EAC has also notified that monthly rent would be realized directly from the shop from the month of March onwards. MTC informs DIMAPUR: Medziphema Town Council (MTC) has informed all business establishments under MTC that last date of renewal of trade license would be March 25. Further, it has requested all business establishments to renew their licenses within the stipulated time failing which 50% fine would be imposed to defaulters. DIS Dimapur informs DIMAPUR: Deputy Inspector of Schools (DIS) Dimapur has informed all GMS and GPS under DIS Dimapur that a two day phase wise orientation training on life skills education would be held from March 17 to 20 at Dimapur. The first batch would be held on March 17 and 18 and second batch on March 19 and 20 with 70 teachers at Dimapur. All head teacher/teacher in-charge of GMS/GPS have been directed to depute one graduate teacher from each school to participate in the training. DCC executive member resigns DIMAPUR: Objecting that even after several Congress leaders resigning from Congress the party leaders were finding faults and flaws of the “defectors”, Dimapur District Congress Committee executive members and committee member of Rajiv Gandhi village council Sangathan has resigned from the party. NPF unit reaffirms support DIMAPUR: Nagaland People’s Front (NPF) 17-Chizami A/C in a consultative meeting held March 6 resolved to strengthen party and support NPF official candidate in the ensuing Lok Sabha election and by-election in four constituencies. NPF unit in a release stated that it was committed to work hard and bring back its candidate in both LS and by-polls. Excise seizes IMFL; 23 detained DIMAPUR: A joint team of excise enforcement conducted a raid in hotels and restaurants here at Deluxe point, Rail gate, Ghorapatti, Khermahal, Dhobinala, Signal/Supply road and Midland March 5 and seized 1126 bottles of IMFL of assorted brands. According to a release issued by Dimapur superintendent of excise and prohibition, Pitongse Sangtam 23 persons were apprehended and penalized under relevant section. Further, it informed that the department was contemplating to conduct such raids in town. State RJD VP withdraws allegation DIMAPUR: State RJD vice president, Zendibo Meriami has admitted that he was totally ‘ignorant’ of NREGS guidelines and its working systems and that he has withdrawn his allegation that appeared in a local daily March 6. “Now knowing the details of the scheme and proper implementation of ground realities, I hereby withdraw my random statement in order to avoid the misleading of general public,” a statement issued by state RJD vice president, Zendibo Meriami stated. Milie Ngi wishes DIMAPUR: Jalukie Pumling Nko and Old Jalukie Village Council have extended wishes on the occasion of ‘Milie Ngi’ festival on March 10 and 11. A press release issued by the chairman of the Jalukie Pumling Nko, Lungda Nring, has asked government department, educational institution and the community within jurisdiction to observe the festival. 'Naga army' cadres discharged DIMAPUR: Subsequent upon their personal supplication, 'Naga army 'cadres from GHQ Raipamso Awungshi (Pte) bearing Army No. AX-40023 of WTR and Khehoto Kehoko (Pte) Army No. AB-11912 of YMC have been discharged from the active service of the Naga Army on domestic ground. A press release issued by 'Lieut. Colonel' Supomeren, camp commander, GHQ, Naga army, stated that their services rendered would be remembered and further wished them success in their future endeavors. National award selection for 2008 DIMAPUR: Union ministry of textiles, development commissioner has announced the tentative for selection of National award for experienced and potential master craftsperson and weavers for the year 2008. Interested and deserving craft persons, weavers are informed to submit their application along with sample item to director of industries and commerce before April 20. HIV, AIDS awareness prog DIMAPUR: In order to create awareness on HIV and AIDS in the district, awareness programme on HIV and AIDS at Mon would be held at Council hall and Private Bus Station on March 18 and 19 respectively.
