LBCD to clash with KVBC in final

Lotha Baptist Church Dimapur (LBCD) came from behind to beat Jalukie Baptist Church (JBC) 2-1, to enter into final in the ongoing Football for Bible tournament played at DDSC stadium, here Wednesday. In the second semifinal match of the day Kughovi Village Baptist Church (KVBC) defeated defending champion Purana Bazaar Sumi Baptist Church (PBSBC) after a hard fought victory 2-1, to set up final clash with LBCD. The men’s final match between LBCD and KVBC will be played at 1:30 pm while the women’s final will be played at 3 pm on Thursday. The winner and runners-up in men’s category will walk away with cash prize money of Rs. 25,000 and Rs.15,000 respectively, while the winner and runners-up in women’s category will received Rs. 15000 and Rs. 10,000 respectively. The tournament is being organized by Bible Society of India, Auxiliary Resource Mobilization Committee (RMC). Jalukie Baptist Church were off to a good start with Rockipiung giving his team the advantage when he opened the account for his team in the 4th minute. But, their joy was shot lived when Aben netted the equalizer after four minutes from Rockipuing goal. Both team remained 1-1 in the first half. Coming after the lemon break LBCD striker Benrithung fired home from closed range to ensured his team for the final berth in the 43rd minute. Defending champion PBSBC were send back packing by tournament favorite KVBC after Azo missed a penalty in the 65th minute after his shot deflected from the cross bar. The spot kick was awarded when KVBC defender’s Kato brought down PBSBC striker’s Peter inside the box. Earlier, Atoshe bagged the opener for KVBC in the 23rd minute when his 25 yards free kick found the net leaving the rival custodian completely stunned. Hekato ensured his for the final berth when he converted Atoshe cross in the 59th minute. Apen pulled one back for PBSBC in the dying minute of the game. Earlier, match patron of the day Revenue Officer Dimapur, Imtirenla Jamir who failed to turned up for the occasion donated Rs. 3000 towards the tournament. Thursday (Finals) Men’s final (1:30 pm): KVBC Vs LBCD Women’s final (3 pm): Police Baptist Chruch Vs Ekranipathar NBC.
