With the ruling DAN coalition comprising of NPF,BJP and NCP having declared C.M.Chang as the consensus candidate for the Lok Sabha election, it is learnt that the race for the ticket in the Congress has more or less been resolved. According to informed sources, the Congress has decided to field former MP Mr. K.Asungba Sangtam as its nominee for the April 16 Lok Sabha polls for the lone seat from Nagaland. Asungba was MP for a brief period in 1998 after which the house got dissolved and later again from 1999 -2004. He lost the 2004 election to W. Wangyuh Konyak of the NPF. Incidentally, Wangyuh Konyak the sitting MP was one of the Congress ticket aspirants this time. It is not known if the fight will be straight , triangular or four-cornered as there are reports to suggest that other candidates could also be in the fray. The Congress is to formally announce the name of Asungba as the party’s candidate for the Lok Sabha seat from Nagaland.
