Despite controversies and the reverberating turmoil that had rocked the Naga Students’ Federation, the demand for fixing the service length of the Nagaland state government employees at 33 years would have to wait until the next budget session. Apart from the vote on account, all other important government businesses had to be temporarily put on hold until the next assembly session. The state government has been compelled to defer all the government businesses and also the presentation of the budget for the year 2009-10 from tabling on the floor of the house following the announcement of the Election Code of conduct by the Election Commission. Apart from assembly questions and vote on account, all other government could not be taken up due to the guideline of the election commission on the election code of conduct, said Dr.Shurhozelie Liezietsu, Minister for Urban Development and also president of the NPF party. Meanwhile, the state cabinet is learnt to have met today as part of its final preparation for the ongoing assembly session which kickstarted yesterday. Confirming the report, a senior cabinet minister said that the meeting was convened to go through all the assembly papers. No other important agendas were discussed in the cabinet meeting, the minister added.
