160 cases of IMLF seized Dimapur: In a delayed report, Dimapur Police on Tuesday about 11.30 pm seized about 160 cases of IMLF at 7th mile highway area, Dimapur. According to police, the accused has been identified as one Mohammad Bibi (28) a resident of Khermahal area; Dimapur. The accused was transporting the consignment in a Tata Mobile (NL03A-1468) to Kohima, when he was apprehended. Police has registered case against the accused in a Diphupar police station under the appropriate section. (Staff Reporter) Kikrüma village meet held DIMAPUR: Annual public meeting of Kikrüma village was held on February 28 which was also attended by village welfare association from Dimapur, Pfütsero and Phek. The welfare association, Kohima, in a press release issued by its president, Beduhu Zath, has also extended gratitude to DAN government under the leadership of chief minister, Neiphiu Rio, for appointing K. Puroh, as a member of the Nagaland Public Service Commission. Mon BJP not to field candidate DIMAPUR: On the advice of leader of BPJ legislative party, MC Konyak, Mon district BJP unit has decided not to field its candidate from 41 A/C Tizit in the ensuing by-election as per the decision taken by DAN party. BJP Mon, in a press release issued by its president, Bhongkai Konyak, stated that it would also support DAN candidate in the ensuing parliamentary election. Mkg excise dept apprehends 12 DIMAPUR: In order to curb/control the possession, sales and use of alcohol in Mokokchung, excise personnel has conducted raids on March 9 and 10 within the town and arrested twelve persons. According to a press release issued by superintendent of excise, Mokokchung, L. Wati, during the raids, the duty party seized fifteen bottles of IMFL and 250 kgs of rice beer which were destroyed on the spot and the arrested persons were booked under relevant section of NLTP Act. The release also said that such checking would be conducted regularly in order to maintain tranquility and peaceful atmosphere during the ensuing parliamentary election at the same time stated checking of vehicles at Tsutabela gate (Mariani) and Tuli (Amguri road) would be conducted at any time in order to control the supply of liquors from Assam. Further, it appealed the NGOs and general public to assist and cooperate with the department to fulfill total prohibition. DC Phek bans leave DIMAPUR: Deputy Commissioner, Phek has banned leave of any kind for any government employees immediately. According to an official bulletin, no head of office would be allowed to grant any leave to their officers or staff. No head of office would leave their station or headquarter without securing the personal approval of the DC and any urgent official works outside the district headquarter that requires personal presence of the officer should be duly intimated to the DC in written. EVMs on display for awareness DIMAPUR: Deputy commissioner & district election officer, Phek, Zachive Thele has informed that EVMs (Electronic Voting Machines) are placed at all administrative sub-divisions to educate the masses and create mass awareness in all polling stations under Phek district for the ensuing elections 2009. According to an official bulletin, any polling personnel or voter who desires to gain adequate knowledge on the operation of the EVM may approach any designated location during office hours on all working days at office premises of ADC Pfütsero, ADC Meluri, ADC Chozuba, SDO (C) chizami and district election officer, Phek headquarter. DLCMT cell constituted in Phek DIMAPUR: District Level Complain Monitoring Team (DLCMT) cell for Phek district has become operational with immediate effect. According to an official bulletin, the cell comprise of O. Isaac Jamir, ADC, Phek Hq as Convenor, Jatila Jamir, Addl. SP, Phek and Zachizo, cameraman, DPRO's Office, Phek as members. Redesignation of AA, PIO & APIO DIMAPUR: The government of Nagaland has re-designated the following officers as Appellate Authority, Public Information Officer and Assistant Public Information Officer under Section 5 (1) read with Section 19 (1) of the RTI Act 2005 in respect of governor's secretariat, Raj Bhavan, Kohima. According to an official bulletin, Abhijit Sinha, IAS has been assigned Appellate Authority, Kevekha Kevin Zeloh, NCS- Public Information Officer, Saroj Kumar Sahoo- Assistant Public Information Officer. This was stated in a notification from secretary to governor, Abhijit Sinha, IAS. ENPSTA meets over submitted memo DIMAPUR: Eastern Nagaland Pre-service Teachers' Association (ENPSTA) held a meeting on February 14 at the residence of its treasurer, Yemsen Yim, to deliberate issues in regard to its earlier memorandum submitted to the state government for non response, no written order and 'disparity attitude’. According to association general secretary, Chamai, the house decided to uphold the principle of associations' memorandum without any indifferences among the members and re-affirmed its earlier memorandum submitted on November 18 last for previewing imperatively considering its legitimate demands and also deliberated that since its members have been trained professionally from government institute, they should not be deprived in the vacancy caused due to retirement or voluntary retirement.
