Opposition have equal right to get CMCF: Rio

State Chief minister Neiphiu Rio said that Opposition Congress have equal right to get Chief Minister’s Corpus Fund (CMCF). He said the genuine cases could apply it and disclosed the four components of CMCF- allocations at district level, common pool at state level, purchase of tractors and power tillers and for employment generation under capacity building. Rio’s reply came after the Congress MLAs K. L Chishi and Kheto raised supplementary. Chishi said that in some cases the party nominees were dictating the district planning board machineries, while Kheto said some of the selected beneficiaries for the year 2007-2008 did not receive the money and regretted that those who did not apply received the money. He also demanded the minister to lay the original list of 2007-2008 in the next sitting. Earlier replying to Congress MLA Kheto, minister for planning TR Zelaing said Chief Minister’s Corpus Fund for 2007-2008 was already released. TR Zeliang also informed that selection was done through District Planning Board and disclosed in the state assembly that Rs.3 crores each were set-aside for each districts and pointed out that CMCF was to generate employment opportunities for the educated unemployed youth of the state in various fields.
