Dance World International, one of the largest professionally run dance companies in India, conducted dance audition at Kohima on Saturday. Sixteen young dance enthusiasts participated in the audition for a three months dance training at Dance World, Kolkata.
The dance audition will be a continuous event in Nagaland, where members from Dance World International will conduct auditions every month.
The age bar for the audition is set at 16-22 years. No education qualification is required. The results for the audition will be out after the dancers are judged at Kolkata through their audition footages.
Selection will be done on the basis of rhythm sense, flexibility and height (5.1ft for girls and 5.3ft for boys).
Earlier, two candidates out of 20 were selected at an audition conducted at Dimapur. The audition will cover all district headquarters of the state.
The audition at Kohima will continue on Monday.
Selected candidates will go for three months training at Kolkata where they will cover various types of dances such as Ballet, Salsa, hip-hop and jazz.
Training fee, accommodation and food would be provided free of cost. After the course, outstanding dancers would be given job as dance teachers in Kokata, Delhi and other parts of the country and even abroad.
Sachetan Jalan, executive director of Indo Lifestyle (P) Ltd, said selection is focused in the North East region as people in the region have better dancing talents.
Stating that dancing is growing as a huge industry, Jalan mentioned the training would serve as an employment opportunity for the people.
