Launching his poll campaign in Dimapur, former DMC chairperson Y. Vikheho Awomi who is contesting from 3 Dimapur III A/C on Congress ticket Thursday assured the people of bringing development and innovation for Dimapur III constituency in particular and the district in general.
Just 14 days to go for by-election and LS polls, Vikheho declaring his candidature in Thahekhu village in front of huge gathering of around five thousand people including renowned leaders like K.L. Chishi, MLA convenor NPCECC; S.I. Jamir, MLA 2 Dimapur II A/C; K. Hollohon, MLA 5 Ghaspani II A/C; Inazhe Sema, former candidate Dimapur III A/C; I. Imkong, former CLP leader; Chingwang Konyak, CLP leader; party workers and others said that youths are the leaders of tomorrow and they should not be confused while making decisions. They are the only ones who can fulfill the inspirations of the people and lead the state towards a new era of development.
He advised the youths to focus on their goal and asked them to join hands with Congress in removing corruption and problems from the society and system.
Lauding Congress party for welcoming and giving him the Congress ticket to contest for the by-election Vikheho said he would lead the party towards development and try his best in solving the Naga political issues.
Making a stinging attack on NPF candidate Azheto Zhimomi of 3 Dimapur III A/C K.L. Chishi, MLA convenor NPCECC said Azheto was chosen by people who assured them of bringing development but at the end people chosen leader only deprived them. “Azheto left the Congress party and broke the trust of thousands of people who voted him to power believing that he will work hard for them and uplift them”.
He lamented that the present government had filled the system with corruption and no developmental work was carried. Declaring the candidature of Vikheho Awomi from 3 Dimapur III A/C Chishi urged the party supporters to trust Vikheho and asked all to unite together and bring victory to Congress party. The Congress, he said was committed to “walk the path of development hand-in-hand with common people” and to work towards solving their problems.
Lambasting NPF government, Chishi said NPF was not able to bring any development and at the same time was a failure in solving the Naga political issues. “Its time for a change in our government and the state and lets all join hands in leading our state to a new era of peace, progress and development and fulfill the dreams of the common people”, said Chishi.
Speaking on the occasion S.I. Jamir, MLA 2 Dimapur II A/C lamented that under the present government corruption captured almost all the departments from top to bottom and further asked the gathering to support the Congress party and to vote for Vikheho, Congress candidate of 3 Dimapur III A/C.
Coming down heavily on Azheto Zimomi, NPF candidate of 3 Dimapur III A/C who reiterated that “it was his love for the constituency he sacrificed and resigned from the Congress party”, K. Hollohon MLA 5 Ghaspani II A/C said that Azheto’s defection from the Congress party proved that he was not a true public leader and should be thrown from power.
Meanwhile, Inazhe Sema RJD president declaring his support to Vikheho said, “I considered him to be a leader, he is the pride of our state who has the capacity to make own decisions, he can protect us from NPF who are misguiding people.
CM Chang issue:
Commenting on CM Chang issue Inazhe said, if students studying outside faced hardship in the cities, “how can we expect a leader like CM Chang to look after the welfare of the student community” whose morality itself has become an issue.
Inazhe who was also former candidate of Dimapur III A/C along with his party workers and supporters have declared their full support to Vikheho Awomi and Asungba Sangtam in the by-election and LS polls.
Others who spoke at the declaration ceremony include CLP leader Chingwang Konyak, former CLP leader I Imkong, DCC president, GBs of Thahekhu and Pimla village, president ACCC, 3 Dimapur III AC, working president AMCC3 Dimapur –III.
Meanwhile, a team of Nagaland Pradesh Youth Congress led by its Kuputo Shohe expressed gratitude to the senior party leaders for allotting INC ticket to young and dynamic leader who have the potentials to venture and deliver goods to the people. A press release issued by NPYC vice president, Bendang Pongener welcomed the decision of K. Hollohon and Inazhe Sema who have committed to support the INC candidate for Lok Sabha polls.
