Peren District Village Chairman Union (PDVCU) has resolved to strictly ban hunting and burning of jungle within Peren district. A press release issued by PDVCU chairman Dilambe stated that resolution to ban hunting and burning was taken at a meeting held on March 31. PDVCU has informed all village councils to implement the resolution within their respective jurisdiction with immediate effect. Union also expressed concern on the “unwarranted activities of underground groups” disturbing the atmosphere of peace and tranquility in the region particularly the brutal killings of innocent Zeliangrong civilians by DHD (J) in NH Hills recently. Conveying its condolences and sympathy to all the bereaved family members and those displaced due to communal targeting by DHD (J), union condemned the killings and called upon to DHD to immediately desist from such destructive activity. Union also reiterated on frequent irregularity of some government officers and staff in attending the office, causing harassment and inconveniences to the public. As such, union requested officers and staff of various departments in district to attend their respective office regularly and to be available during office hour in the interest of the public service.
