After officially kick starting the election campaign here yesterday for the DAN consensus candidate, state Home Minister Imkong L Imchen Saturday campaigned at 23 Impur A/C covering four villages including Longjang, Longpa, Sungratsu and Mopungchuket. Speaking in these villages, the Home Minister called upon the electorates to vote for the DAN candidate CM Chang saying “This election, we will vote for Naga issue.” He said DAN has been a facilitator to the Naga issue since it assumed power in the state in 2003 and claimed there has been substantial progress in the Naga peace process. He alleged that the Congress party had kept aside the Naga issue for 60 years. Imchen said the Congress’ failure to attend the Naga Consultative Meet held at Kohima clearly showed the attitude of the Congress towards the Naga issue. Imchen also appealed the villages to cast their votes solidly for the DAN candidate CM Chang and work together hand in hand under the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio. The entourage of the Home Minister today was included former additional chief secretary & commissioner, T. N. Mannen, Ex-MLA Imtiyanger, besides NPF party functionaries from Mokokchung Division.
