To create awareness among the youth and colony residents on civic sense and hygiene in the locality, more than 60 youth of Lotha colony along with colony council members were mobilized by DMC Councilor Ward 14, Thungchanbemo Lotha Saturday.
DMC Chairperson Khekaho Assumi who also was present during the social work expressed satisfaction over the initiatives undertaken by ward councilor for welfare of the colony.
He praised the ward councilor for bringing out a noble idea in developing the society not only in the council but also in ward 14. Chairperson DMC described him as the think tank of Dimapur Municipal Council in development and urged the colony members to elect him even in the next municipal election.
He was of the view that people should vote and work for development and assured people of help from DMC as far as improvement of roads and drains are concerned in any colony of Dimapur.
He stressed on the team work that could bring about absolute difference in the society. DMC Chairman urged that such awareness programme should be undertaken in all the 23 DMC wards and initiated every Saturday.
He also donated Rs. 5,000 to youth of the colony, while T. Lotha, donated Rs. 10,000.
While declaring that social work will be conducted every Saturday in the colony to keep the colony clean and tidy, T. Lotha also urged the colony members to use the dustbins made available in the colony for disposing off household and other waste materials in the designated places and to avoid throwing waste materials in the drains. He appealed to the people to maintain cleanliness in the colony.
Meanwhile the council members as well as the youth of the colony thanked T. Lotha for taking various initiatives in developing the colony by improving the roads, constructing dustbins and constructing and cleaning the drains along to colony.
