Nyishi Elite Society (NES) has served an ultimatum to the state government for arrest and appropriate action against the person trying to incite communal tension and social disharmony during the Lok Sabha elections. In a representation to Chief Secretary Tabom Bam and Director General of Police Ajay Chadha on Monday, the society demanded immediate action against the culprit responsible for forging, scanning of signature of NES president Bengia Tolum with wrongful intent of inciting communal riots and social disharmony during the elections. Recently, a press communiqu with forged NES president’s signature was released in the media, announcing that the NES, along with Central Nyokum Committee (CNC) and All Nyishi Students’ Union (ANSU), would support Kiren Rijiju, BJP candidate from West Parliamentary constituency, which irked the Nyishi organisations. Takam Sanjoy from Nyishi community is also contesting from the same constituency under Congress ticket. ‘’We urge you to intervene in nabbing the conspirator and perpetrator of the crime within seven days, book him under appropriate law and deliver a deterrent punishment so that no one repeats such a socially volatile crime in future,’’ the representation said. It also threatened to take its own course of action if the authorities failed to take action within the prescribed time and added that this was necessitated to enable the NES to come up clear on its political neutrality before the April 16 Parliamentary polls in the state. The Itanagar police had already registered a case in this connection on the basis of an FIR lodged by NES and launched investigation.
