EUUN for free, peaceful polls DIMAPUR: The Educated Unemployed Union Nagaland (EUUN) has appealed all contesting candidates, political parties, administrations, NGOs, churches and public to take step towards ensuring free, fair and peaceful polls respecting the voting rights of the people. EUUN president Achilo Thong in a press release issued stated that the union would not support or go against any candidate or political party in the forthcoming Lok Sabha and legislative assembly by elections as a neutral in accordance with the constitution of the union. EUUN however stated that as a member of the union and as an individual one had his or her choice to support a candidate or party of own choice. EUUN has further appealed the people to elect the candidates who had clean image and clear vision for the younger generation and the grass root level regardless of their money power or the parties they belonged to. Cong leaders campaign for Asungba (from page 1) Convener Kohima District Congress Committee (KDCC) Election Campaign Committee, Sevotso, KDCC President Prasilie Pienyü and KDCC Vice President Vimathul also addressed the rally and appealed the people to vote for K. Asungba Sangtam for peace, unity and development in the State. According to NPCC General Secretary (Admn.) Medokul Sophie, the programme chaired by President of 14-Souther Angami Assembly Constituency Congress Committee, Medose started with an invocation prayer by Rev. Zapovil Sophie while VDB Secretary of Jakhama village proposed the vote of thanks. Youth camps, mess banned DIMAPUR: The Dimapur district administration has passed strict orders against setting of “youth camps” in Dimapur with immediate effect. Directing all political parties against setting of “Youth Camps” and “Mess” for fooding, Dimapur deputy commissioner, Maong Aier in a notification said only office of various political parties was allowed to function purely for official purpose. This decision, according to DC, was approved by all political parties of District Level Standing Committee in a meeting held March 27. NPCC secretary appointed DIMAPUR: NPCC president KV Pusa has appointed Süneyi Vadeo as NPCC secretary with immediate effect, an NPCC statement informed. 1 discharged from GPRN/NSCN (IM) DIMAPUR: The commanding officer VP Battalion Naga Army has discharged ‘Sgt Major’ Shanpan Lotha, A/C No. I.K 18464 son of Lt. Nchumomo of Pongidong village under Wokha from active service of Naga Army on ‘domestic problem’. A press release issued by Thongbo ‘Brigade’ Naga Army stated that the services rendered by the ‘Sgt Major’ for the cause of Naga Nation would be remembered. CCCRC fasting and prayer Kohima: A fasting and prayer meeting for the Chakhesang community leaders will be held from April 17-19 at Mission centre, Chetheba. Professor Imchayanger Ao, mission secretary NCRC and Vezokho, pastor, Pruzie Prayer Centre, will be the main speakers. Leaders of all organization including Naga national workers, state politicians, churches irrespective of denomination and NGOs have been requested to participate in the programme. THSS jubilee deferred MOKOKCHUNG: Golden Jubilee celebration of Town Higher Secondary School THSS (erstwhile Town KG School) slated to be held on April 30 has been postponed to May 4 due to coinciding schedule of NSF Conference at Mopungchuket village. Planning Committee of jubilee has informed all members to take note of the change of date. AKM holds up non-local registration MOKOKCHUNG: Issue of Census Card (Registration of Non-locals) carried out by Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) under the aegis of ‘Survival Mokokchung’ has been suspended till further notification from the office. Informing this in a press release by AKM vice-president Opanglemba citizens of Mokokchung Town have been requested o bear the inconvenience. PHED to conduct IEC workshop in Mkg DIMAPUR: The department of Public Health Engineering would conduct one-day workshop on Information, education and communalization (IEC) for communitised villages under Mokokchung district at Town Hall on April 9. The workshop would be conducted by Communication and Capacity Development Unit (CCDU) Kohima where Kevisekho Kruse, executive Director, CCDU would be the resource person. According to an official bulletin at least 5 members including members and secretaries of WATSAN Committee from 30 communitised villages would be attending the workshop. Deputy chief medical officer, Dr. S.S. Akaba will inaugurate the programme. ‘GPRN/NSCN’ welcome cadres DIMAPUR: The GPRN/NSCN has welcomed the five NSCN (IM) cadres from Lotha region who have joined the GPRN/NSCN. Welcoming the cadres, Kilonser, National Social Welfare Maj. (Retd.) R.M Lotha, expressed appreciation to the Lotha brothers for their brave decision and further appealed to all Lothas at Hebron Camp to listen to the voice of the Nagas and not be slave to divisive elements. Meanwhile, the five NSCN (IM) cadres who pledged their loyalty to GPRN/NSCN included Sgt. Maj. Chumben Kithan (GHQ) of Sanis Village, Sgt. Maj. James Tsopoe (GHQ) of Morakjo Village, Sgt. Maj. Samuel Mozhui (Thungbo Brigade) of Yamparosa Village, Myinthungo Humtsoe, Razou Peyu of Yonchucho Village and Pte. Tsulanthung Kikon (GHQ) of Sanis Village. Seminar on sanitation Kohima: Kohima Baptist Pastors’ Fellowship is conducting a one day seminar on sanitation on April 17 at 10 am at Zonal Council hall, Kohima, under the theme “making Kohima city a model of Nagaland”. Minister for Urban Development and Higher Education, Dr. Shürhozelie, will grace the programme as the chief guest; while additional chief secretary and development commissioner, Alemtemshi Jamir and Rev. Malsawma Vanchhawng will also grace the programme. The fellowship has requested all elected members of Kohima district, KMC councilors, KCCI officials, Classic Club officials, one youth representative from each colony and pastors of all denominational churches to participate in the seminar. A registration fee of Rs.100 will be collected by the organisers. Mkg wards reject restoration of advisory members Correspondent MOKOKCHUNG: All Ward Union Mokokchung Town resolved not to accept the restoration order No. TC/Home – 23/2004 Dated Kohima, March10. A general meeting was held on Tuesday at Ongpangkong Salang, Mokokchung where the house deliberated on restoration of Mokokchung Municipal Advisory Council Members. After lengthy and thorough deliberations, the house further re-affirmed the three point resolution of the Mokokchung public general meeting held on 30th July 30, 2008. The House further resolved to write a representation to the State government to conduct Mokokchung Municipal Election at an earliest date without the 33% reservation for women and without land tax. Sunrise service Kohima: Kohima Baptist Pastors’ Fellowship is organizing Easter Sunrise service on April 12 at 4:45 am. Rev. Dr. L. Anjo Keikung, general secretary, NBCC, will deliver Easter message, while Vipopal Kintso, chairperson, Kohima Municipal Council, will bring Easter greetings. The KBPF has requested all Christians of Kohima, irrespective of denomination, to join the service. RJD meet DIMAPUR: A general meeting of Rashtriya Janata Dal 5th Ghaspani II A/C has been convened on April 9 in Green Park 5th mile Dimapur at 10 a.m. All member of assembly office bearers, unit office bearers, advisors, state office bearers representing the A/C, active and primary members have been requested to attend the meeting. LSU meet DIMAPUR: A joint meeting of the executives and steering committee of Longtsung Students’ Union has been convened on April 25 at Hornbill restaurant, Wokha at 10:30 a.m. The meeting would focus on its golden jubilee celebration in the year 2010, for which union President Merilo N. Mozhui has requested all members to attend the meeting. Prayer and fast Kohima: The NCRC has organized a prayer and fasting programme for peace in Nagaland from April 10-12 at NCRC prayer centre, 7th mile, Rüveba, Dimapur. In this connection, the NCRC has requested all prayer house/centres to send delegates during the programme. The prayer points during the programme will be for revival in Nagaland, for the state leaders and officials and national workers. Election trg at Zbto DIMAPUR: Training for police personnel will be conducted on April 9. The final phase and rehearsal for all the presiding officers, 1st, 2nd and 3rd Polling Officers will be conducted on April 13 and 14. Deputy Commissioner and returning officer Zunheboto, Z. Thele has called for strict compliance to the scheduled plan. Change of venue DIMAPUR: All members of Kohima District Level Standing Committee on Election and Sector Magistrates/Police Officers have been informed that meeting proposed to be held at DC’s conference hall, Kohima on April 8 would be conducted at Zonal Council Hall Kohima at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. respectively.
