3 held for kidnap

Basing on a complaint that one Imnonen (12), a student of class VII in Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Dimapur was kidnapped from his school at around 8.30 am, Wednesday, Dimapur Police swung into action and arrested three persons including two females from Nagarjan ‘B.’ The accused were identified as one Banuo Angami (40) daughter of Rokosato Angami of Piphema village under Medziphema, presently residing at Nagarjan ‘B’, Akhevie Angami (20) sister of Banuo Angami and Bouika Sumi (18) son of Phutoi Sumi from Thazumi village, Aghunato, Zunheboto district presently residing at Nagarjan area. Police who carried out a raid at Nagarjan at around 1 pm said the main accused Banuo Angami went to the school in the morning and picked up the boy on the pretext of an “urgent situation” about his parents. Recognizing his adversaries, the boy tried to escape but was forced into an auto and later taken to the resident of the main accused at Nagarjan ‘B.’ Upon interrogation of the accused, Police found out that the boy was kidnapped for non-payment of monetary debt by his parents to the main accused. Police said the victim’s parents owed about rupees 1 10, 000 to the main accused. Police however added that Bouika Sumi, a tenant of the accused, was not aware of the intentions when he was told to accompany her to the town. Meanwhile, the Ao Students’ Union Dimapur (ASUD) through its president, N. Sashi walling has condemned the act.
