Cong MLAs campaign for Vikheho

With just six days left to go for polls, Congress MLAs Thursday urged party supporters to take wise decision in electing their representatives in the ensuing by-election and 15th Lok Sabha election. MLAs K. L Chishi, Tokheho and K. Hollohon attended a Congress rally launched for INC candidate from Dimapur-III, Vikheho Awomi where around 3000 people attended the campaign here at Purana Bazar area. Addressing the gathering, Y. Vikheho Awomi, Congress candidate, Dimapur-III for by-election called upon public to have firm decision in choosing their leader. Lauding the public and Congress high command for the privilege given to contest in the election, he assured to work for people and progress of the state. He also said, he was not against any party or make promises but would depend on confidence and trust of the people. Dwelling on his service rendered for the people during the past 7 years and as DMC chairman, he believed people should retrospect the works done by the leaders in the past and vote for the right candidate. Further, he lauded his opponent Azheto, NPF candidate for vacating the seat and enabling him to contest the election. Speaking at the meeting, Vihepu Yeptho, ex-MLA lambasted DAN government for using money power to win the election. He also disclosed that DAN government misused Rs 5 crore sanctioned for development for election purpose. Calling upon RJD workers to support Congress candidate, Inazhe Sema, ex-RJD candidate also expressed failure of democracy in Nagaland where rule of “autocracy” existed. He said due to “height of corruption” in Nagaland, even for the posts of peon and chowkidar, people have to spend Rs 1 lakh for the post and reminded the gathering to choose young and dynamic leader like Y. Vikheho Awomi. MLA Tokheho said DAN government as a ruling government failed to govern the state, adding the government upgraded EAC and ADC posts without any government memorandum. He remarked that out of Rs.1 crore and 28 lakhs sanctioned for sugar mill employees, only 16 lakhs was delivered to the employees and further questioned on the loan taken from LIC and NABARD amounting to Rs. 300 crore. He also said 1800 posts in education and police department were sold by DAN government and cautioned the public about the scheme of the government. MLA K.L Chishi, slammed Azheto for defecting from the Congress party and said Azheto had sought money and materialism. He accused Azheto for failing to solve the grievances of the people and left the party without using LADF fund for development. Lauding padmashree K. Asungba for his achievement in bringing development in the state, Chishi appealed the public to vote for Congress candidate Asungba in the ensuing Lok Sabha election to bring further changes, and conveyed the message of Sonia Gandhi not to accept Neiphiu Rio in the party fold. Stressing on political issue, MLA K. Hollohon said INC and Naga national workers must work together to solve the Naga political issues, and urged the public help Congress to elect Asungba to represent the state at the central level and Y. Vikheho Awomi at the state level.
