Sending out a clear signal, chief minister Neiphiu Rio Thursday said that he is not fighting with any national parties during the ongoing campaign for both the parliamentary and assembly by election. “I am fighting with Nagaland Congress who had brought much suffering to the people”, Rio said while talking to media persons on the sideline of the last leg of the DAN election campaign rally which officially winded up at Pughoboto Thursday afternoon. Reacting to a query on the Congress posters where the Phek DCC had alleged the DAN coalition as “anti Christian”, Rio said that the allegation might be because the DAN coalition consists of BJP for which the Congress might made the allegation. He however reminded that he was the first person to speak out against the anti-Christian campaign launched in different part of the country earlier for which he had received appreciation from different Christian bodies. Moreover, he pointed out that the congress had attacked him by branding him as “Varun of the east” which he had not reacted so far. Varun Gandhi was charged for making anti-muslim speeches and Rio opined the state Congress might be trying to compare him with Varun because he had been speaking so much for the Nagas. He however declared that he had forgiven the Congress for the same allegation. “Forgive them for they do not know what they are saying.” On the personal attacked by the Congress on the question of morality of DAN consensus candidate CM Chang for his polygamy life, Rio said that it is a personal and family life and not public life. Marrying and living with more than one wife is accepted in the Naga society. Moreover making such target on personal life of a candidate is against the election code of conduct, he claimed. After campaigning for its candidate CM Chang the whole state, the chief minister was on the upbeat saying that its candidate is likely to win the election with a huge margin. “I feel that we should get about 80% of vote” Rio said and reiterated his earlier speech saying that the challenge is “we should make our candidate win with the highest margin of vote in the entire country”. On the early winding up of the DAN election campaign rally four days ahead of the time, Rio said that it was necessary because the DAN leaders will have to go back to their respective constituencies and do the nitty-gritty works. The NPF led DAN coalition officially launched its election campaign for the DAN consensus candidate CM Chang on March 27 last at a rally held at Mon. After the campaign trail touches all the districts of the state, the DAN winded up its campaign rally today at Pughoboto. Earlier in the morning, a similar rally was also held at Tsemenyu. Earlier, addressing the rally NPF president Dr. Shurhozelie reminded that the “Cock” party was the first organized party in the state with the principle working for solution to the Naga political issue. Even till today the party had not change its principle and continue to work for solution to the vexed Indo-Naga political issue, he said and expressed his believe that the party had achieved to a certain extent. In justification, he pointed out to the relative peaceful environment prevailing in the state since the last few months. On the other hand, while addressing the rally former Speaker Neiba Ndang who left the congress party and joined the NCP, termed that the Congress as a sinking ship and an empty house with only decorative inside. Similarly, power minister Doshehe who is also the party campaign convenor of Pughoboto sub division alleged the Congress as killers of Naga economy and Naga issue. Parliamentary Secretary R.Khing, chief election agent of NPF party Mr. Kakuto also addressed the rally held at Tsemenyu and Pughoboto on the last day of the DAN campaign rally.
