Lotha Baptist Church Dimapur (LBCD) Youth department on Saturday conducted its annual sports meet under the theme “Pressing towards the goal” with W.C Humtsoe Director BYWC as the chief guest. W.C Humtsoe speaking on the occasion urged the youths to identify the potentials every individual possess and work towards the success by putting on hard labour and discipline.
Though all might not become preachers, sports person, politicians, IAS and NCS officers or government employees however giving importance to sports shapes one own body and mind to be in a good stead. Stressing on the need to contribute to the society, he urged the youths to think ‘what we can do for the society.’
He also appreciated youths of the church for giving importance to the church activities instead of loitering around and causing problems in the society.
Altogether 14 colonies around Dimapur such as PWD, Nagarjan, Lotha Oriental, Town area, Notun Bosti, Rilanyan, Kashiram, Duncan, Supply, Burma camp, Kyong, River belt took part in the youth sports meet in three categories namely volleyball, tug of war
In volley ball men’s Kyong colony clinched the 1st spot while the runner up went to Lotha oriental.
In women volley, Notun Bosti secured 1st place while Burma camp got the second spot. In Tug of war women Notun Bosti were crowned the champions, while the runner up went to Kyong colony.
In March past Notun Bosti secured the first spot, while Lotha oriental colony and supply colony bagged the second and third respectively.
Earlier the programme began with drilling display of March past from the participating team, welcome note was delivered by John Ovung, Invocation prayer was delivered by Rev.Zanao Mozhui pastor Lotha Baptist Church Dimapur.
About 150 youths from in and around Dimapur town took part in the tournament.
