VKAGBA expels gang-rape accused

VK Area GBs’ Association (VKAGBA) comprising of nine villages has expelled one accused Panato, son of Zutoi, for his involvement in “beastly and uncivilized act” on March 25 gang-rape incident at Darogapathar. The association chairman, Kiyeto Yeptho in a release has urged the law enforcing authorities to arrest the absconding culprits and award befitting punishment. Meanwhile, the Süngratsü Senso Mungdang (SSM) has expressed gratitude to NSCN (I-M) and Dimapur police for their “prompt” action in apprehending four accused in March 25 gang-rape, attempted murder and robbery incident. SSM president, C Wati Walling; Süngratsü Senso Telongjam Mokokchung, president, Sangtemchuba and Süngratsü village council chairman, T Kora Jamir in a joint statement have appealed the authorities to award highest degree of punishment to all the accused. The signatories said one of the gang-rape accused, Imtikumzuk was also involved in two murder cases and a jailbreak and requested respective authorities for detailed probe and to award punishment accordingly.
