Nagaland Home Minister, Imkong L Imchen on Saturday emphasized on why the Naga people should vote for DAN consensus candidate and not for Congress during the forthcoming lone parliamentary election in the state. Speaking at a public meeting for parliamentary election at Children’s Park, PWD, Imchen said the main agenda of the DAN alliance was the current Naga political issue. He said the DAN coalition has put the Naga issue as number one agenda and has played the role of a mediator between Naga underground leaders and the Government of India. He alleged that the Congress does not have Naga issues in their political mindset and that it has not been able to solve the Naga political issues for the last 45 years in power at the centre. He went on to allege that the Congress has no intentions to solve the Naga political issue and instead brought more disunity and fighting among the Nagas. The home minister also questioned Congress’ lukewarm attitude towards Naga issues which he alleged had suppressed the Naga political issue since India’s independence from the British rule. He also questioned the Congress party for not inviting the Naga leaders for talks during the 1974 negotiation on Naga issue. He ridiculed the congress for “successfully” bringing division among the Naga family and for being insensitive towards the Nagas by not taking part in the recently concluded Naga consultative meeting held at Kohima. Planning minister T.R. Zeliang, parliamentary secretary Yanthungo Patton, BJP president Ato Yepthomi, DMC chairperson Khekaho Assumi, T.
