The Nationalist congress Party (NCP) reacting to news item that appeared in local dailies under various caption “NPCC slams Sangma, Rio”, “Sangma has no moral authority to campaign” and “Sangma in political wilderness” issued by NPCC, has reminded that leadership of Sangma was recognised not only at the national level but also at the international level. Stating that the remarks on Sangma was ‘unfair’ on the part of NPCC to cast aspersions on a national political leader of the stature of Sangma, NCP said Sangma had every right to campaign for the DAN consensus candidate in the state because of the fact that NCP was a free-poll alliance partner of DAN government. A press release issued by NCP president Povotso Lohe asserted that NCP Nagaland could ‘proudly declare’ that the best chief minister Nagaland ever had was the present chief minister. The release also stated that wild allegations leveled against PA Sangma and the chief minister Neiphiu Rio by the NPCC spoke volume of their “sheer jealousy and the ulterior motives” simply to lead mislead the general public.
