A member of the Mokokchung Press Club and correspondent of the Eastern Mirror, was physically assaulted by one IRB Personnel while taking pictures in the DC office complex at around 8:30 pm. The IRB jawan hit the scribe with the butt of the service rifle. The Mokokchung Press Club submitted an ultimatum to the DC demanding identification and appropriate action against the jawan and making it known to public on action taken and a public apology from the administration on behalf of the IRB. The MPC warned that it would boycott all government functions if its demands were not met from April 14 onwards. However, the MPC decided to cover the ensuing Lok Sabha Election in public interest but members would wear black arm bands. The MPC has also decided to declare April 14 as a ‘black day’.
